Healing Arts

The word 'heal' is from the same root as 'whole' [Old English hælan; related to Old Norse heila, Gothic hailjan, Old High German heilen; see hale1, whole]. My belief is that through awareness of the balance of the energies in the body,  well being and wholeness can be attained and maintained.

I discovered the healing arts quite by necessity. I could always talk a good game, but I was quite literally a hot mess; I didn't know there was an alternative. I had enough intellectual acuity to be intrigued and to become quite well versed in the ideas and philosophies of the healing arts. I would be more comfortable being the kooky artist in her studio, drawing faeries and fools, maybe reading a spread of cards, for a lark, and leaving the good healing works to others.

But, the truth is, I define healing as wholeness, ad I believe that wholeness is innate. We become distracted from this truth. We may spend our lives in an unconscious state, where the blame falls elsewhere, and the awareness and awakeness of the bliss that is available, and I've come to believe, our birthright, is veiled from our sight. I know that my decision to embrace the path and the quest of artist and healer, kooky or not, has brought me this vivid and enhanced life, and I have the means to part the veils for others. It would be irresponsible and ungrateful not to offer this wisdom, that comes from on high, to those who seek their own awakening.
