Love, Art, Myth, Dreams, Tarot, God...I believe they are all One
and the same and what I choose to draw to myself.
Kim Richelle; faerie tale writing, tarot card reading, earth loving, dream interpreting artist.

From my earliest memories, there were the lights: swirling, pulsing, colorful lights. They were my original inspirations, and still they fuel all my work, and give me the courage to continue on my winding, winsome path.
The inspiration of these ethereal lights is the source and motivation behind everything I do, personally and professionally. Because of their persuasion, I draw and write my faerie tales. I read the tarot and do the healing energy work, Sacred Geometry, by their light. The lush landscape and symbolism of our psyche (Psykhe, the inspiration for the heroine fae of the books, my courageous Rue, and the name of my indie press) is the sacred ground I wander and the Lights guide my way.
Some would call the lights Angels, or Faeries, and I don't disagree. Some call them demonic, and those, I pity. When I was a wee babe, and events occurred that contributed to my PTSD, the lights would appear when I needed them most. Their beauty comforted me, and still compel me, sometimes insistently, to create to the best of my capability.
They were Love when there was no love available to the little girl I was. They were, and are, God.
From the beginning, as a very young child, I depicted the energies in my drawings, and the stories I told my brothers that eventually evolved into my writings: faerie tales and parables disguising traumatic events with mythic symbolism and metaphor. I would draw little faeries and cut them out for my brothers to carry with them as protective talismans. The world of our dreams is a very natural and instinctive place for me to navigate. The boundary between the dreamscape and the realm of my waking is not distinct.
My faerie, Rue is the depiction of this phenomenon. She is, in deed and in being, a reference to the butterfly goddess Psykhe, sharing her aspects of 'breath' and 'soul'. The word 'inspiration' literally means the breathing in of spirit. Mine is an avocation of Grace, and I am humbled by the realization.

"Kim doubts and is convinced she created all of this; Each word and parable and allegory and twinkling eye,
Each collarbone, each earlobe, each elbow, each kiss. Her distorted humility sees these books as a pretty lie."
